Tidings from Abroad

This October, the Academy of European Medieval Martial Arts (AEMMA) will host the second International Western Martial Arts Workshop (WMA 2000). The three-day workshop will attract leading academic researchers and practitioners from Canada, the USA, the United Kingdom, and Europe and will be held at the Medieval Times conference facility in Toronto from October 13, 14-15, 2000. WMA 2000 will feature presentations of current translation research on historical treatises, along with physical "hands on" workshops in specific fighting techniques. There will also be select vendors of equipment and training aids of interest to practitioners of Medieval swordsmanship.

In addition, two tournaments, one focusing on late historical swordsmanship, specifically rapier, and one focusing on on early and middle historical swordsmanship in a fully-armoured "live steel" context, will be held. For more information, see the Academy's web site at aemma.org.
