Board of Governors – Second Vice President

Keena Suh began fencing at the Martínez Academy in 2002, where she has focused on studying the French School for foil, small-sword, and dueling sword (épée). She has also trained in Italian foil and Spanish rapier. In 2008, she earned her rank as Instructor of French foil at the Martínez Academy. Ms. Suh is also a certified tournament judge for the Association for Historical Fencing, works on several of its committees and is a tireless promoter of historical and classical fencing. She has participated in fencing demonstrations both for the Martínez Academy of Arms and the Association for Historical Fencing. For the AHF, Keena has assisted in developing the current website, participated as both competitor and judge at AHF-sponsored tournaments and, most recently, served as a tournament director at the 2012 Grand Assault.

In addition to studying and teaching at the Martínez Academy, Ms. Suh is a practicing architect in New York. She is also currently Adjunct Associate Professor in the Interior Design department at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, where she teaches and coordinates the undergraduate third-year design studios and also is a thesis advisor in the graduate program. She has taught fourth-year and graduate design studios and coordinated the graduate thesis program. Currently she serves on the graduate curriculum review committee, graduate admissions committee and peer review committee and has participated in the undergraduate and graduate curriculum review for most of her teaching involvement during the past twelve years, most currently involved in a significant re-structuring of the framework and re-writing course syllabi for the graduate program at Pratt. At the New York City College of Technology, Keena recently stepped down from her role as a member of the Board of Advisors electing, instead, to have more direct contact with the students in testing the newly-implemented architectural design curriculum. She teaches architectural design studios as Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Architectural Technology. Keena was also recently appointed as an external reviewer of the design program at the Singapore Polytechnic Institute. Prior to earning her masters degree in architecture from Columbia University, Keena studied English Literature.
